I love the Ogden Pioneer Days celebration and rodeo! I was born in the city, but I am a bit of a country girl at heart. I am particularly grateful to be able to celebrate this holiday to remember the sacrifice made by the pioneers for us to live in this beautiful place. Their coming here not only opened up the West, but was a monumental time for the developement of the Gospel. Our beautiful state would not be the Capitol of the entire Church had they not come here, built Temples, and settled this land. I think sometimes with all the excitement summer brings, we sometimes forget the true reasons for the holidays. Celebrating our countries Independence and Freedom is something we should not take for granted. Honoring the pioneers for the sacrifices they made and those who sacrifice for our freedom today is very important. We are blessed to live in such a great nation, and we need to remember those who made it possible, those who defend it and substain our freedom.
Sorry to get all sappy, but it means alot to me, so I wanted to remind everyone. That being said, I can't wait to go to the rodeo this year! Please remember, if you are going to the rodeo, you might as well go on the Tough Enough to Wear Pink night and support the fight against breast cancer. This year they will be honoring a very special someone in our family as a breast cancer survivor at the rodeo, so come for the cause and have a great time! Congratulations Francine, we love you and are so grateful to be able to call you a survivor now. Our family wouldn't be the same without you!
